If you answered 'No', then waste no time and get one now, as in ASAP, Pronto! What is Carbon Monoxide? If you were absent from class when the Chemistry teacher discussed it, then let me tell you what it is.
Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, invisible gas that is produced when fuel is burned without enough oxygen. (That is why having this detector is IMPORTANT, no one can detect it except for your pet bird if you have one). Its buildup is often caused by inadequate ventilation in old or poorly functioning fuel-burning appliances, such as water heaters, ovens, dryers, space heaters, or furnaces (wood fires, cars and lawn mowers are also potential sources). Because Carbon Monoxide is toxic and very difficult to detect, it is important to install a detector if you have such sources of gas in your house.

Where to put the detectors:
There shhould be one detector on each level of your living space. Place one in the hallway near your bedrooms, close enough to wake everyone from sleep. It's a good idea to place an additional monitor near any major gas-burning appliance, such as a furnace or water heater. Be sure it is at least 5-feet away or there may be false alarms.
