These are my first harvest. I was on vacation the whole month of June so I planted my tomato plants late. My husband took it off the vines and gave me these green tomatoes and I was like "Uh, why?". "Why can't we wait for them to turn red on the vines?" He answered that we are getting our first frost soon so he picked them. Oh well, now I have ten green tomatoes sitting on the kitchen window sill. I read from Martha Stewart Living to put green tomatoes on the window sill upside down for it to ripen. I could try cooking these green tomatoes but I love to eat them ripe and red. I also use fresh tomatoes as a side dish. You can see on the photo that one is already getting there, it used to be green like the one on the right. I wonder if it will taste as good as those picked ripe from the vine? What do you think?

Have you ever ate the green ones before? Having fried tomatoes (color doesn't really matter) is really good. If you haven't had them you should try it. You could always ship them to Michigan lol.
I was told fried green tomatoes are great but have yet to try them as worried they might be too acidic. I know I do fry some ripe ones in virgin olive oil as they then produce more lysine than fresh ones.
I buy tomatoes in the supermarket with a lot of green vine attached. They were picked when green and yet taste wonderful. Maybe next time you need to pick when green do the same as it appears that way the nutrients continue to feed the tomato.

I'll have to try fried tomatoes. I've seen the movie and heard people raving over it. Wait for the tomatoes coming your way. Catch! LOL

That's a great idea! I told my husband to do that next time. Thanks.
