My parents are in their 70's and like any other children of elder parents, I worry about them a lot. I live across the country and I don't get to see them often. I'm thankful that they are still in good health and are living independently. Of course it will never be like this forever and sooner or later, they will need to be looked after. Right now, they are thinking of living part-time in the Philippines. They still own the house that I grew up in and the mortgage is fully paid for. One of the benefits of living in Manila is the fact that they will have household help and they will be able to see their friends and neighbors who we stayed in close contact with. My dad just have to get used to the climate again since he's been here in the US for almost 30 years. The medical care is good and it doesn't hurt that a cousin who lives one door down is a doctor and a childhood friend who lives next door is married to a doctor. It would be nice if they have an AED (Automated External Defribillator) for emergencies. If all their plans go through, they'll just take a trip here for their medical check-ups and to visit family.

Having folks nearby that can look in on them or just generally be aware of their well-being is absolutely critical for long distance relatives.
Interesting blog. I've been looking at elder and senior care and keep coming across issues involving denture creams and neurological problems. It seems that some popular creams are involved and lawsuits are beginning to be filed. I found a site that is sponsored, I believe, by an attorney group, but that has some good health and legal information: http://www.denturecreamlawyer.com/ I hope this is of help to your readership.
