I wrote about the Acai Berry in this blog touting about it's health benefits and how it helps in weight loss. From what I have read before, this berry sure looked promising. There where people saying that they loss weight after taking these Acai berry supplements and that they didn't need to take any weight loss pills because of it. Well, there were some news reports that came out these past few weeks that said that most of the Acai berry supplements is not what it was advertised to be. It doesn't aid in weight loss and all the other facts are unproven. Thank goodness I didn't buy any of this Acai berry products. The closest I got to an Acai berry is from the V8 Fusion fruit drink and I didn't even liked the taste.
The most common form of cancer for women here in the US is breast cancer, I think we all know that. But do you know that lung cancer (mesothelioma and other kinds) and colorectal cancer is the second and third most common form of cancer for women? I thought it would be cancer of the uterus but that came in fourth.
For men, it is prostate cancer followed by lung cancer and colorectal cancer. The fourth most common cancer depends on the race. For white men, it is bladder cancer, for black men it is cancer of the mouth and throat while for Asian men, it is stomach cancer.
The numbers are staggering. Hundreds of thousands of employees laid off all over the country. One thing that the newly-unemployed should think about is health insurance. Getting a private insurance from a company like Blue Cross NC can get very expensive. Going without some kind of health insurance should be a last resort. Good thing that there is COBRA. It stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985. It requires most employers with group health plans to offer employees the opportunity to continue temporarily their group health care coverage under their employer's plan if their coverage otherwise would cease due to termination, layoff, or other change in employment status. We all know about this but do you also know that if you get divorced or your spouse dies and you are depending on his health insurance, you can also avail of COBRA. I did not know that. It will also cover a dependent child if that child loses coverage under his parent. You can read more information at the COBRA website.
How do you laundry? Do you prefer to use fabric softener? Or are you a dryer sheet user? Or worse, just like me until a couple of months ago, do you use both? Yup, I used to do that. I don't know why. I think I got that habit from the aunt I lived with when I came here in the US 20 years ago. I knew I wondered about it before but I just set it aside and continued on doing it. Early this year, I was looking for ways to save $. So I thought to do an experiment and tried to use just the fabric softener. Lo and behold, no static! After that, I stopped using the Bounce dryer sheets. I guess it all depends on the kind of fabric you launder most often. If you're into 70's fashion, i.e. polyester stuff, then you probably need to use it. So now that I save some change from doing that, I am looking to buy auto insurance online. Now that the auto insurance in my state was deregulated, I am hoping I can save some pretty good change from that.
We all see it in the stores, products labeled 'organic', '100% organic' or 'Made with organic ingredients'. So what does it all mean? Does it have the same meaning? I know I'm confused! It's just like when you're shopping for electronics, there are a lot of different labels and stuff that it gets confusing. Here are the USDA rules that determine how organic foods can be labeled:
Organic - At least 95% of the ingredients are organic. The rest comes from a list of allowable ingredients. These foods also carry the USDA seal and are generally composed mostly of whole-food ingredients - canned soups or frozen foods.
Made with Organic Ingredients - At least 70% of the ingredients are organic. However, these foods, which may be any type of processed or packaged food, cannot carry the USDA seal.
There are many nutritional supplements out there that boasts a lot of advantages. Some of it are too good to be true and it probably is and of course there are also some that gives you the real deal. I had a chance to go to a website that sells one of these nutritional supplements, it is called Stemulite . It is all natural and has been proven to aid in weight loss, helps gain muscle and energy and as an added bonus, helps you get a restful sleep. Most of the test subjects reported getting a restful sleep when they started taking this nutritional supplement. This product has been featured on NBC and Fox News, the videos which you can view from the website. There are also testimonials from well-known sports figures like Roger Craig (of the 49ers, of course) and other football players. If you are looking for a natural supplements with these benefits, this product is worth a try.
How much do you spend each month on medicines? For most people, this is one expense that cannot be cut off. Medicines cost a lot of money, especially when you're using the non-generic form. Wherever you purchase your medicines here in the United States, you will get the same expensive price. If your health insurance covers your prescriptions, then well and good. But what if the prescription is not covered? I know that there are prescriptions that the health insurance will not pay for because of some reason. This actually happened to me, one prescription was not approved even though there is a valid reason and all because of my age. I'm still young...at heart that is. ha ha Anyway, I found out while searching the internet that I can have this prescription filled by a canadian pharmacy and it's all safe and legal. No, this is not one of those internet stores that dispenses medicines without prescription. This is a pharmacy that is licensed by the Canadian government and employs licensed pharmacists. The cost of medicine is cheaper because in Canada, the government regulates the prices of medicines. If you have other questions, you can check the FAQ page and learn more about ordering your medicines from Canada. I actually heard about this on the news before. People cross the border to have their prescription filled in Canada and they said that it saves them money.
