I do not like ironing. Doing it is really a chore for me unlike cooking or baking. I'm glad that dh is an engineer, therefore, he doesnot wear suits to work. Why should he, when he had to get into that white bunny suits you see at Intel commercials. Anyway, I only iron once a week and only because my kids' school uniforms need to be pressed. They have to wear uniforms because they go to a private school. I prefer this than no uniform at all, then there will be that daily struggle on what clothes to wear to school, especially for my daughter. I also have some shirts that needed to be ironed, one looks like one of those tuxedo shirts. I still have it easy compared to many years ago. I still remember while visiting my grandfather in the province where they used an iron where you put hot charcoal inside it. Uhuh, I saw those up close and personal. Have you?
I never was a smoker. I tried it once but I didn't like it. I think it also helped that both my parents are non-smokers. My sisters don't smoke but my brother does. I think he only started smoking because of friends and he thinks it looks 'cool'. My sister's husband only smokes Avo cigars once in a while. I've seen photos of the lungs of former smokers and it is not pretty. Plus, cigarette smoke or cigar or pipe smoke makes my sinuses clog up. I prefer clean air, thank you.
I would usually reach out for Drano whenever we have clogged drains in the house. But this time, there was no bottle of Drano under the sink. Then I remembered seeing this do-it-yourself show on TV. They used vinegar and baking soda to clear out a clogged drain.
So, I got the old baking soda from the fridge in the basement and a bottle of vinegar from the pantry. I poured the baking soda into the clogged drain and then poured vinegar. It bubbled and fizzled, so I let it sit for around 10 minutes. Afterwards, I turned on the Kohler faucets and voila, the clogged drain is now working like a charm. Here is one more use for vinegar and baking soda. Not only does it save you $ but it's also environmentally friendly plus it contains no harmful chemicals.
