Ok, listen up. For those who are young or who need only low-magnification non-prescription glasses to read, those cheap prescription that you can purchase in places like CVS, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. will be as effective as those costing as much as a hundred dollars.

But, if the distance between your eyes (the pupillary distance or PD) is very narrow or very wide, then do not buy those cheap glasses since their magnification is focused in the center of each lens. Your eyes won't get damaged but you will definitely get a headache.

As you get older, your PD becomes more important. It is also important to have proper lighting when reading or doing crafts that require detail like cross stitch so use a lamp or check on your light fixtures and clean those shades.
